If the Congress-led INDI Alliance wins the Lok Sabha elections, Mekedatu Project be stopped?
Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK party has announced that it will block the Mekedatu project if INDI Alliance wins the Lok Sabha elections.
CM Stalin-led DMK party, which is ruling Tamil Nadu, has released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections. In the manifesto, it has said that it will block the construction of the Mekedatu dam project that Karnataka intends to build across the Kaveri river.
Congress, the main party in the INDI Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, used the Mekedatu project as an important weapon during the Karnataka assembly elections and won the hearts of the people with the slogan 'Numma Neeru, Numma Hakku' (Our water is our right). Now their ally DMK in neighboring Tamil Nadu has declared manifesto for elections against Karnataka's plan, which is quite embarrassing in the Karnataka Congress camp.
Opposition Leader R. Ashoka mocked the state Congress party and said, "Didn't their I.N.D.I. ally DMK declare in their manifesto that they will not allow Mekedatu project to be implemented for any reason. DCM DK. Shivakumar, now will you take your MLAs to Chennai and protest against 'our water, our right' or Will you compromise the interests of Kannadigas to please Rahul Gandhi? The renegade Karnataka Congress government, which came to power by carrying out the Mekedatu Padayatra to bring water to the Kannadigas, is now stabbing the Kannadigas in the back," he posted on X.
